Above and Across … over the Atlantic
Yes … we did go into the water
A few tentative steps at first
Looking at the tidal waves
Wondering if we were safe
We made Art with shells
Stones and other unknown particles
We saw remnants of strange creatures
And realized we were strange, too
Below and Beneath … under the Atlantic
Yes… We drew symbols in the sand
We heard waves crash and croon,
We ran our fingers through grains
And let our soles sink deep
Oysters and Seaweed beckoned to us
Knowing they could make our next meal
Fishermen curiously starred at us
As they yearned for a better catch
Before and Beyond … into the Atlantic
Seagulls pranced around and about
Hoping for crumbs & benevolence
Like us, they soared with the wind
Took stance in worship of the Creator
We grew shades darker
Skin tingling under harsh rays
Hues of vanity and tones of hope
Like the sun was made for us
Ahead and Afar… toward the Atlantic
Yes… We ate nuts, fruits and cookies
It seemed the sea made them sweeter
If, for one day, we treat in plenty
Then totally, so we shall indulge
We stared at the ocean
Hoping for a lifetime in a day
Getting only a day for a lifetime
The earth won’t stand still for us
Within and Without … for the Atlantic
Yes …We talked and reminisced
A little bit of life and life again
We also had moments of silence
Sharing the freedom to think and rethink
We saw water play tag with the wind
Form a myriad of colors and cascade
We felt our hearts connect to the Creator
And planned a return for tomorrow
